2016 Board Installation Luncheon

The Masters Restaurant
1775 East 13 Mile Road, Madison Heights, MI $25 per Person

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Detroit Chapter of ASIS International website. Founded in 1955, ASIS International is the preeminent organization for security professionals, dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by providing educational programs and materials that address broad security interests.

The Detroit Chapter is also dedicated to providing the very best in monthly educational programs at little or no cost to our members. Chapter meetings are held six times a year in conjunction with the education programs. In addition, we host a number of networking events including ASIS Detroit Hockey Night and the Annual ASIS Detroit Chapter Golf Outing at Reddeman Farms.

First of all, I would like to thank all of you again for honoring me with the post of Detroit Chapter Chair for 2015. As I’ve stated many times, my main goal for the chapter in 2014 was to increase attendance and participation at our meetings and events. As the old cliché goes, “watch out for what you wish for, you just might get it”. We had a number of excellent meetings with outstanding speakers. Some of 2014’s highlights were:

Our March meeting was a huge success! The speakers, Chief James Craig of the Detroit Police Department and Rick Deslauriers formerly the Special Agent in charge of the Boston FBI office were captivating, to say the least. I would like to apologize to the members that did not respond before we reached capacity and could not register. I don’t remember the last time we had to limit the attendance to a monthly meeting.

Our Law Enforcement Appreciation dinner was at the Amnesia Club in Motor City Casino. The speaker for this event was FBI Special Agent Bob Beeckman, he entertained the audience with a presentation on the Kwame Kilpatrick investigation. By the way, the service and the meals were wonderful. I hope you all get a chance to visit there very soon.

The annual ASIS Golf Outing at Reddeman Farms was extremely successful as well. This was the best-attended golf outing in many years. On behalf of our chapter, I would like to thank Murray LaPointe for his excellent (as usual) handling of this event.

We have positions available on many of the committees. Please consider volunteering. We welcome fresh faces and new ideas!

If you have any articles of interest you would like to share with the chapter, please let us know.

I look forward to meeting all of you at the next meeting or event. If you are interested in becoming involved in one of the committees, volunteering for one of the upcoming events or if you would just like to chat, please contact me at or 248-872-2478.

Best Regards

Ed Keiser
